How to Choose a Boudoir Photographer

by admin on February 12, 2010

So you’ve decided to book your first boudoir session?  Congratulations!  The next step is choosing the right photographer.  Fortunately, there are many talented photographers shooting boudoir sessions these days.  Here are a few tips on choosing the right photographer for you:

Professional Choose a professional photographer who has experience shooting women in an intimate setting.  Visit the photographer’s website or blog and view his or her portfolio online.  Also, read the photographer’s testimonials from former clients.  The more you know about your photographer, the more confident you’ll be during your session.

Knowledgeable Shooting a sensual boudoir photograph takes more than an expensive camera, it takes someone who understands the fundamentals of photography.  Professional photographers know how to pose and use lights to make a woman look her best.  Chances are your body isn’t perfect, and that’s okay (even the most successful supermodels have their photos retouched).  Make sure your photographer knows how to do photo retouching as well.

Flexible Choose a photographer who is flexible enough for your needs and comfort level.  For example, some photographers have restrictions against bringing a friend to the boudoir session. Professional photographers will work with you to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible during your boudoir session.

After you make your choice, don’t be afraid to communicate with your photographer.  Ask questions, and share any concerns you have about your boudoir session.  And most of all, enjoy the experience.

Getting ready for your first boudoir photography session can be a very enjoyable experience.  It’s makes a wonderful excuse to pamper yourself more than usual.  However, it’s not the time to start worrying about losing a few extra pounds or trying out a new hair style.  Here are a few suggestions you can do before your boudoir session to get the best photos possible.

First decide how revealing you want to be, and then choose your outfits accordingly.  Many women enjoy shopping for sexy new outfits, but you don’t have to spend a lot on expensive lingerie to get nice photos.  A red or black bra and panties set will make any woman look great.  Feeling playful?  Check out your fiancé or husband’s wardrobe for ideas.

On the day of your boudoir session, wear loose fitting clothes and underwear to the studio location.  This will help prevent those unflattering marks on your body caused by tight fitting clothes.  Also, wear a clear deodorant that won’t show up on your sexy outfits.

Before your boudoir photo shoot, enjoy a nice meal.  Eat something light and healthy, such as some fresh fruits and veggies.  Also, start drinking a little extra water a few days prior to your shoot.  This will hydrate your skin for even better photos.

Finally, take a deep breath and enjoy yourself.  Many women report feeling more confident and happy after their first boudoir session.  Ask your photographer for even more suggestions so you can make your first boudoir experience the best it can be.
